San Francisco: Google has at last decided close down its search engine in China by declaring that it will stop censoring search results on its Chinese website. In a surprise announcement, the group issued a veiled attack at Chinese censors and said it was prepared to shut down its operations there entirely if the authorities do not allow it to create an unfiltered search engine. The company courted controversy in 2006 when it launched in China but, as a concession to the Communist government, agreed to filter the results available on its website for “inappropriate” content. It does not operate such filters in other major countries. And now at last after four years of service in china it is fed up with Chinese hackers who are primarily targeting the gmail accounts of human rights activists, google has decided not to censor its internet search results and if required it is ready to totally pull out its business from china soil. Good move google, you dared to do it and you have placed ethics above the business. Others should learn from you. Other companies like Yahoo, Microsoft, Intel corp., Cisco systems, Adobe Systems Inc, Juniper Networks Inc and Rackspace Hosting Inc have also faced this problem but they are not inclined to express it and don’t want to lose their china market.

Now if google really moves out of china then it is really interesting to see if it deletes all the information related to china from its search engine. Whether it deletes china from google earth as it is going to stop all business in china? And what will you find in google search when you type- CHINA? Don’t get surprised if it said – DID YOU MEAN- country of hackers and dictators ……interestingly once google moves out of china all other business oriented foreign search engines will grab the google share.

Now it is time for china to say goodbye to google.cn and what will china do without google now? No problem, says china….it says it will have its own search engine say duplicate of google and over period of time it will market it to other nation. China is pioneer is producing the low cost products and it has huge market apart from Indian market and hence it may come out with new search engine also. And it will launch it first in India after china, as half of the china economy is depend on Indian consumers and users. Now India will have china search engines in addition to china toys, china mobiles, china batteries, china this and china that. What not? Everything is available in India which is produced by Chinese. And what result do you expect once you search some information in china search engine? Of course the quality of its search engine result will be at par with its already existing products. So if you search Kashmir…it may say lake city of Pakistan, type Arunchal Pradesh…..it may say new state of china, and what would you expect when you search google in china search engine? Any guess………it may say “do not search evil”….you know why? Because “do not evil” is the corporate motto of google.

Ironically you will not be able to google “google” in china in the future and it is the people of china who will be missing the google and at the same time google will also be losing its revenue by pulling out of china market. Not it is total logout of gmail from china.
