Burj Dubai: The Height of all heights

imageDowntown Dubai: Burj Dubai is now named as Burj Khalifa. It is tallest man made structure ever built on the earth. And the its height is 828 meters i.e. 2717 ft. construction began in September 2004 and it was ready by October 2009. Just five years to reach this height. Don’t get amazed. I know it is not only surprising for us (Indians) but also shocking. We have so many road projects started five years before which are still in the beginning stage and they take at least another 5 years to complete. Don’t get disappointed, it is not easy to construct even one kilometer road on the surface of the earth (Golden quadrangle highway project is still underway in our country and it will go on). Lot of politics is there on the earth. That could be the reason Dubai went for the vertical construction and touched the sky limit. Certainly it is height of construction. They should be credited for this.

The cost involved in constructing this Burj is hardly around 7000 crores. If India minds- it can have such projects once in every three years. We come across scams (like satyam and illegal mining) worth 5000 crores once in every three years. It is not big deal for us at all. But still it is height of investment during the recession. The selling cost per sq.ft in the Burj is hardly 1.8 lacs, which is cheaper than the cost at Nariman point, Mumbai.

This Burj has 57 elevators and 8 escalators and the maximum speed of elevators is 64 kms/hour. Yes faster than average daily traffic moment speed in Bangalore city. It has double deck cabs elevators and carries 12-14 people in each cab. Standing and hanging is not allowed in the cab like in Mumbai Double Decker buses. The tip (spire) of the tower is visible from 95 kms far. It is height of visible distance of any building in the world.

The world’s highest outdoor observation deck is on 124th floor, suppose if anybody by mistake falls from there it would a greatest and highest fall on the earth and in this case the soul of person reaches heaven before his body reaches hell ( earth ). If any body suicides from there it will be height of suicide.

The world’s highest swimming pool is situated on 76th floor. It would be height of swimming. And people who take bath only after swimming have to travel 75 floors without taking bath. It would height of height traveled without taking bath in a single building.

The world’s highest mosque is on 154th floor. The reason is very simple you take bath on 76th floor and see the world view at observation deck at 124th floor and then you will definitely recall God for such miracle construction (though it is man made, let us assume that God made man) and one more reason for having mosque at such height is God can hear you more easily as there is no sound pollution and you will be nearer to God. Anybody planning to visit the mosque and pray in the Burj?….please conveys my regards to God……..what a height to reach God…….

Just wait another 3 more towers are coming in the next decade. Other towers that have been announced are 1,000-metre Nakheel Tower, Kuwait’s Silk City tower slated to be more than 1,000 meters tall, and the 1,600-metre Jeddah tower by Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal………what a height of height.
