Belly dance inauguration by Goa Police Department
14th November, 2009
PANAJI: Actually it was inauguration of new police station premise at Anjuna Beach and the whole goa police department including IGP was present in that function where belly dance was held on the stage. The exotic dance was called off shortly not because police felt that it is not civilized but general public including police started sharing the stage along with the belly dancers. Unfortunately the home minister missed this event as the dance started only after he left the stage. Speaking to the media later IGP said there is no harm in such dances and asked media not rake up this issue and he even said that there are people walking naked in the beaches against our culture and media is highlighting only belly. It is not fair he said. The police department of Karnataka and Maharashtra should learn lesson from goa police department. These two states police department have banned bar girl dances in the pub and Karnataka government is thinking against the pub culture. One thing is for sure if the future assembly session in goa ends with cabaret dances then there is no surprise. After all it is nothing when compared with naked people who are roaming in the goan beaches. According to goa police media should look beyond belly and should not rake such small issues.
